In our house summer can't come soon enough, why?, because our darling 3 year old has decided that she no longer wants to wear trouser's, legging's or tight's!
Over the Christmas period she expressed that she preferred wearing dresses but was happy to wear them with tights or leggings. Then sometime around her third birthday (mid January) this changed and she is now adamant that she will not wear trousers (or in her words - towzers) in any way shape or form, this also includes pyjama bottoms. I don't have an explanation for why this has happened, it's certainly not 'like mother, like daughter' as for me dresses are saved for 2 occasions - weddings and parties (but only the ones where they have a dress code). Perhaps she'll be a fashion designer, this is the explanation many people put to me when I explain her interest in clothes, not wanting to wear trousers and her definite ideas about what she likes to wear. Perhaps she will be - however she also has a keen interest in Princesses too but somehow I think it is unlikely she be a Princess when's she older unless of course Prince George likes the older woman. So whilst this 'phase' (crosses fingers) lasts my husband and I are trying to keep a sense of humour about the whole thing. The washing machine remains permanently on the go to accommodate for the 4 or so outfits she will wear (out of vast wardrobe which I might add I am jealous of) and then occasionally we do have to intervene if the outfit she picks out really isn't suitable (think floaty tunic top which she thinks is a dress, it would make for a very short dress even on a hot day!). We did try taking her out with nothing on her legs in the vain hope she would get cold and want to put trousers on, unfortunately this didn't work; she said she was cold and her legs went a bit purple but she still insisted that she didn't want trousers on! So as we don't currently have warm enough weather to let her go outside as she would like to be dressed I have bought her some knee length socks, not something which is easy to purchase for a 3 year old. For some reason (thank goodness) she thinks they are great, I'm still not sure I would put them with her beloved purple boots. Did I mention purple is her favourite colour? (I'm surprised if I haven't as she mentions it to me at least 10 times everyday if not more) and that these are the only shoes/boots she will wear? Perhaps that's an idea for my next blog post :) Anyhow it only seemed right for me to document her current fashion sense through my photography if only to show her when she's older. These photo's were taken on a cold day in February she wanted to help daddy hoover the inside of the cars, instead she spent most of her time doing a good impression of Makka Pakka collecting stones. I asked her to put on a hat to help keep her warm, It resulted in this rather funky looking outfit. Daughter - never change, wear what you want and be who you want. We love you just the way you are x

Like most girls (and boys, so I hear) my daughter is a little bit in love with the Disney film Frozen. It only seemed right that this years Christmas card should be Frozen inspired. I took a few shots in November (whilst it was still fairly mild) and then used Photoshop to adjust the background to some of them to give them the Frozen feel. We had lots of fun and giggles - she's such an actress, she really got into character!
Merry Christmas to all reading this and thank you for visiting my blog. Christie x Bekonscot is a model village & railway which can be found in Beaconsfield, Buckinghamshire. I remember visiting it as a child so was super excited (maybe even more than my daughter) to go there on a family day out recently.
As soon as we entered her little face lit up along with lots of "wow's" and "amazing's". The next couple of hours were spent admiring the displays and searching for trains "choo! choo!" First family holiday abroad, first building of a sandcastle at a big sand pit aka the beach, first pair of flip flops, first temporary tattoo, first time visiting a castle and meeting a 'princess', first fall that required a special plaster and first lie in until 11am!
Puff, the magic dragon lived by the sea And frolicked in the autumn mist in a land called Honah Lee, Little Jackie paper loved that rascal puff, And brought him strings and sealing wax and other fancy stuff, oh Puff, the magic dragon lived by the sea And frolicked in the autumn mist in a land called Honah Lee Together they would travel on a boat with billowed sail Jackie kept a lookout perched on puffs gigantic tail, Noble kings and princes would bow whenever they came, Pirate ships would lower their flag when puff roared out his name, oh Puff, the magic dragon lived by the sea And frolicked in the autumn mist in a land called Honah Lee A dragon lives forever, but not so girls and boys Painted wings and giants's rings make way for other toys. One grey night it happened, Jackie Paper came no more And Puff that mighty dragon, he ceased his fearless roar His head was bent in sorrow, green scales fell like rain
Puff no longer went to play along the cherry lane. Without his lifelong friend, Puff could not be brave So, Puff that mighty dragon sadly slipped into his cave There has been A LOT of rain in the last month. This has given me the chance to take more photos of my little ray of sunshine, so I thought I would share some of my favourites with you. She is growing up fast, where has my little baby gone. Making cakes and eating cakes is serious business! Peek-a-boo
Autumn is a great time to take photos. The change in light makes walking through trees surrounded by fallen leaves feel magical. Throw in a pair of red wellies and a pair of wings and watch the fairy tale unfold.
My daughters current favourite word is "hat".
She loves them and knows how to wear them well. Here you can see her in one of mine! |
