Summer can't come soon enough {lifestyle photographer}

In our house summer can't come soon enough, why?, because our darling 3 year old has decided that she no longer wants to wear trouser's, legging's or tight's!

Over the Christmas period she expressed that she preferred wearing dresses but was happy to wear them with tights or leggings.  Then sometime around her third birthday (mid January) this changed and she is now adamant that she will not wear trousers (or in her words - towzers) in any way shape or form, this also includes pyjama bottoms.

I don't have an explanation for why this has happened, it's certainly not 'like mother, like daughter' as for me dresses are saved for 2 occasions - weddings and parties (but only the ones where they have a dress code).

Perhaps she'll be a fashion designer, this is the explanation many people put to me when I explain her interest in clothes, not wanting to wear trousers and her definite ideas about what she likes to wear. Perhaps she will be - however she also has a keen interest in Princesses too but somehow I think it is unlikely she be a Princess when's she older unless of course Prince George likes the older woman.

So whilst this 'phase' (crosses fingers) lasts my husband and I are trying to keep a sense of humour about the whole thing.  The washing machine remains permanently on the go to accommodate for the 4 or so outfits she will wear (out of vast wardrobe which I might add I am jealous of) and then occasionally we do have to intervene if the outfit she picks out really isn't suitable (think floaty tunic top which she thinks is a dress, it would make for a very short dress even on a hot day!).

We did try taking her out with nothing on her legs in the vain hope she would get cold and want to put trousers on, unfortunately this didn't work; she said she was cold and her legs went a bit purple but she still insisted that she didn't want trousers on!  So as we don't currently have warm enough weather to let her go outside as she would like to be dressed I have bought her some knee length socks, not something which is easy to purchase for a 3 year old. For some reason (thank goodness) she thinks they are great, I'm still not sure I would put them with her beloved purple boots. Did I mention purple is her favourite colour? (I'm surprised if I haven't as she mentions it to me at least 10 times everyday if not more) and that these are the only shoes/boots she will wear? Perhaps that's an idea for my next blog post :)

Anyhow it only seemed right for me to document her current fashion sense through my photography if only to show her when she's older. These photo's were taken on a cold day in February she wanted to help daddy hoover the inside of the cars, instead she spent most of her time doing a good impression of Makka Pakka collecting stones. I asked her to put on a hat to help keep her warm, It resulted in this rather funky looking outfit.

Daughter - never change, wear what you want and be who you want. We love you just the way you are x
